1.       Keepvid, Keep-tube.com, and youtube-mp3 are all used to make videos into mp3 or just simply downloading the videos. Keepvid is used for downloading videos. Keep-tube.com also downloads videos onto your computer. Youtube-mp3 converts video urls into downloadable mp3’s.

2.       Music rights in Canada are changing and becoming more serious. I think that in one way it’s good that it’s being taken care of, but on the other hand I feel that it came all of a sudden. It’s good that music rights are starting to become more serious, but I feel the way they that the government reacted to it was a bit harsh. There are many people who have downloaded movies and songs over 10 years ago and suddenly they are getting notices of fines. I think it’s unfair because a lot of people would probably not download songs and movies illegally if websites and apps where one can download free music from weren’t available. I kind of think it’s somewhat the fault of the apps and websites that are available, because they tempt people to download music and movies illegally. Though it is also the fault of the people since they don’t want to pay 0.99 cents of 1 song or rent a movie for $ 5-10. In apple products you can download music from iTunes, while in android or Microsoft products it’s not clear how or where to buy songs from.  So if someone has android they will probably download music illegally. In android there is an app where u can buy songs from but not all kinds of music is available. Overall I think it’s the fault of the people and the companies.

25th Anniversary of the WWW, March 12

13/03/2014 13:56

The web in the past was very new and different so not much people used it. In the past the web was usually used by the government and military. Now everyone can use the web, and for free as well. Nowadays people especially teenagers and kids can’t even think about a life without the web.  In the future life without the web would pretty much be impossible. I also think in the future, the web might not be free. I think that he meant that we, the people who use the web, have to try to keep the web free and open and make sure that everyone in the world can have access to the web. I think that Sir Tim Berners-Lee made the web for the people of the world, so he thinks there should be no charge to use it. It surprises me that 60% of the world doesn’t have access to the web. I thought that most people had access, seeing that there are so many people on the web. I thought that most of the world had access to web, so I was surprised when I found out only 40% of the world had access to the web. I hope that one day the web will be available to everyone in the world, and that too for free. https://googleblog.blogspot.ca/2014/03/on-25th-anniversary-of-web-lets-keep-it.html

Why I want to go to South Korea

What i learned...

I learned about creative commons and how it works. I also learned that i should remeber to site the adress where i get pictures from and that to be careful when picking pictures.

What I think...

I think that if someone takes a picture, video or document from the internet they should site where they got the picture, video or document. I think this way because the creator put a lot of effort in their work and it isn’t fair for someone to just take their work and claim it as their own. I know I would definitely not like it if someone used my work without getting permission from me. Taking someone’s work without asking permission for it is another version of stealing. I also think that sometime people make mistakes and they just simply forget to site the website, I think that if it’s the person’s first offense they should be given off with a warning. I kind of think that citing is very confusing, because on google you can easily get pictures but it’s confusing if u can or can’t use them, I think that there should be a special version of google which makes it less confusing to pick a picture and site the address. Overall I don’t think people should take someone’s work without their permission or siting the address where they got the picture, video, or document.

Cyberbullying

11/02/2014 13:56

I learned some knew things after watching Garfields video on cyber bullying.

What I learned in Garfield’s video about cyber bullying:

  • The first thing I learned in Garfield’s video about cyber bullying was that one shouldn’t open emails from people they don’t know, and to ignore the emails instead.

  • I learned that cyber bullies can not only bully but also impersonate people

  • I learned that even if the bully spreads around something that is the truth or partially the truth it’s still considered bad if the victim doesn’t what it being spread around.

  • I learned that excluding someone from a online club or group is also considered cyber bullying

  • I learned that cyber bullies can threaten to hurt someone close to the victim. A similar idea of threatening is when the cyber bully threatens the victim by telling him/her that they will tell the victims parents about something the victim did wrong.

Many of the things that were in the video, I already knew:

  • I already knew that the first thing to do if your cyber bullied is to tell a trusted adult.
  • I knew that most people who bully others are insecure, have been bullied before, or are just jealous of others.
  • I already knew a cyber bully harasses others through the internet and sometimes cell phones.
